Above is a screenshot I took from the video of Vince Young fighting with the Dallas policeman.

Young is pictured as the man with the white shirt trying to beat up the man in the blue shirt.

This happened after being with a couple of people at a local Dallas-area strip club.

After this, Young was issued a Class-C assault and could have a fine that can go up to $500 at maximum.

It isn’t a big issue in Dallas, since it is Young’s first offense. The National Football League will invesitgate this, but it isn’t much of a league issue either.

As it all goes down, it is just a team issue.

It won’t be all that negative but the impact won’t be all that bad either.

Young will probably have a talk with Jeff Fisher and as mini-camp comes, he will most probably apologize to the team.

Young has built himself back up as the Tennessee Titans’ starting quarterback after he lost his starting job to Kerry Collins in Tennessee’s run to the playoffs back in the 2008-09 season.

Will this incident misplace Young’s spot on the depth chart?

No, not at all. No need to worry there.

Here is a bit more of the report from the Associated Press releae:

Video surveillance shows Young trying to get through people surrounding a man identified as Creiton Kinchen inside an office at Club Onyx after Creiton apparently insulted Young and made a derogatory sign referencing the University of Texas, Young’s alma mater. A brief scuffle ensues.

“[Kinchen's comments] obviously made Mr. Young upset,” Dallas police Lt. Craig Miller said. “That conversation continues and there was more accusations against the University of Texas which prompted, in this case, Mr. Young to come back into the room where he just about exited.”

According to the police report, Kinchen sustained a bloody lip in the fight, but did not require medical attention.

Young is looking for a bright new year and at 26-13 as a starter, he hopes to lead the Titans through the tough AFC South division.

Titans’ fans, don’t worry about VY.

I don’t think anything bad will happen after this incident.

Back in April 2009, the Green Bay Packers offered Greg Paulus a tryout with the team.

Then on May 14, 2009, Paulus announced that he would play college football for the Syracuse Orange. He played decent, throwing for 2,025 yards with 13 touchdowns. and 14 interceptions.

Besides a college quarterback rating of over 132, if it were an NFL quarterback rating, it would be a 82.9 rating with 67 percent of his passes completed.

After completing the year of college, the 6’1″ 180-pounder was offered a tryout by the New Orleans Saints back in May. A contract was never offered.

Now Paulus will be given another shot as he was invited to the Saints’ mini-camp about a week ago.

“He’s a smart player, obviously going to Duke,” tight end Jimmy Graham told the Associated Press. “He hasn’t necessarily had as much time as the rest of us with the offense, but he catches on quick and is definitely a good football player. Anybody that gets him, or if he stays here, has a smart quarterback.”

I really hope the Saints offer him a contract. Actually, once it all goes down, the Saints should just sign him to a contract. Just give him one already.

How about right now?

You’re never going to see someone who has almost as natural talent in football and basketball than Greg Paulus does.

He played great in college with the Duke Blue Devils and showed he can play some football, too, when he played with the Orange.

“All I’ve heard is great things about Greg,” Drew Brees said. “Had he had three more years of college football, who knows what the possibilities are? From everyone I talk to, it seems like this guy has a lot of great leadership abilities and some natural talent.

“Unfortunately in this league, coming in like he has, with the nature of the position, you get so few opportunities, so you hope that somebody can stick with you,” Brees said. “It might be here. It might not be here. But I think if he can get a chance … who knows?

Paulus used his fifth year of eligibility in college football.

I hope the Saints don’t deny him a second time around. He was the Gatorade Male Athlete of the Year back in the year of 2005. The Saints could use an excellent quarterback in Paulus.

Right now, I just want New Orleans to give him a contract.

He has a bright future ahead of him and has a lot of talent.

The Saints could use that talent.

Maybe he could be Drew Brees’ heir, you never know.

What do you guys think?

It seems that NBA fans are picturing a dynasty with Miami Heat shooting guard Dwyane Wade, shooting guard Joe Johnson, and power forward Chris Bosh.

Now that dream can become a reality.

But according to the Sun-Sentinel , Dwyane Wade talked to Bosh and Johnson in Los Angeles. He told the newspaper, though, that he hasn’t started recruiting yet.

“My friends are the guys that are in the league,” Wade told the Sun-Sentinel. “Some of my closest friends in the NBA happen to be certain guys that are up in this free-agent market. Yeah, it’s going to be like that. Like I said, I don’t worry about it. I smile and I keep on going with my day.

“Me and Chris have been friends since we came into the NBA. We signed with the same agent. So, we can’t eat together? It’s all good. We understand what’s going to come about from anything that goes on. But, no worries, it’s just friends eating dinner.”

People that most probably will be going to different teams will be Bosh, Johnson, LeBron James, Carlos Boozer, and Amar’e Stoudemire. And the Heat can land all of them.

The Heat can have LeBron and Bosh instead, but it may cause trouble. I actually think Joe Johnson and Chris Bosh fit a thousand times better.

Johnson probably wouldn’t mind being with a team stacked with high-quality players, since he was with one earlier with the Altanta Hawks. The Hawks are stacked with players like Mike Bibby, Jamal Crawford, Josh Smith, and Al Horford.

I think Johnson would rather go to Miami and team up with a power forward like Bosh and a superstar like Wade.

Same goes for Bosh. The Heat could send Michael Beasley and/or Udonis Haslem, or Mario Chalmers and another player/draft pick for a sign-and-trade deal to the Toronto Raptors for Bosh. The Heat have a bunch of cap space to rock free agency.

If the Heat were to bring in Bosh and Johnson, I see the starting lineup looking like this:

PG: Mario Chalmers

SG: Dwyane Wade

SF: Joe Johnson

PF: Chris Bosh

C: Jermaine O’Neal

I think Joe Johnson can make the switch to small forward because he has the size and explosiveness to do so. I also like him at shooting guard, too, because he can take advantage on other shooting guards because of his size.

So you could see the lineup like this, too:

PG: Dwyane Wade

SG: Joe Johnson

SF: Michael Beasley

PF: Chris Bosh

C: Jermaine O’Neal

Most likely, that might not happen, though. But anyways, it’s nice to see Wade talking to his friends. I see Johnson and Bosh coming.

It’s a great fit.

The Heat look like they are a step closer to creating a dynasty.

Originally seen at alwaysmillertime.com

The Indiana Pacers had an okay draft last year. Tyler Hansbrough has a few years to prove himself and A.J. Price has stepped up big. But that was until he busted himself at a charity game.

The 2009 Draft was successful off of trades. They got Brandon Rush and Roy Hibbert out of that. Rush has one more year to prove himself until he is considered a bust, and like Pace Miller said in his PacersPulse.com post: that’s being too generous. But Hibbert has stepped up big in has last two years and can turn into one of the most dominant centers in the league.

The 2008 NBA Draft was probably the best recent draft. How can you not say it is the best when Indy drafted their superstar for the future in Danny Granger?

Now a new draft awaits as the Pacers have a lot of options to choose from. Who shall it be?

Let’s take a look at the players and options that Indy can do.Ekpe Udoh

The Pacers can draft Ekpe Udoh. He has a great PF and none of the PF’s the Pacers have are going to be the future. Hansbrough would be surprising if he were the future and Troy Murphy, Josh McRoberts, and Solomon Jones would be laughable as a future PF.

Udoh is dominant and fast. He has great character and everything. He’s also not undersized, like Hasnbrough. Udoh is a dominant 6′10″ 240-pound PF that can be an easy steal for Indy.

You can read more about Udoh here some where back here in the archives.

Hassan Whiteside

I’m not very interested in the Pacers drafting Whiteside. I don’t think he can live up to expectations and I think if Larry Bird drafts him, he probably would be thinking boom or bust.

Cole Aldrich or Gordon Hayward

I don’t know what you can laugh at more for the Pacers drafting: Gordon Hayward or Cole Aldrich. Hayward plays the position of the best player on our team (you know who). Hayward can possibly play PF, but it just won’t work out at all.

Cole Aldrich? Are you kidding me? He’ll be nothing more than a backup center for Indy. It won’t work out and if Aldrich is even available, please Indy, I strongly encourage you not to draft him.

And Hayward? Come on, man! He’s projected a 23-28. He got boosted up just because of the WHOLE TEAM EFFORT in the FInal Four. Not just him. So don’t take a chance.

Ed Davis

Ed Davis would be a nice pick. I would say it would be exactly the same for Ekpe Udoh. Both he and Roy Hibbert can team up to make a strong Big Men combination.

Avery Bradley or Eric Bledsoe

Eric Bledsoe was a great guard at Kentucky. But I don’t think it should happen. He would be picked way too early considering he is projected a very late first-rounder to early second-rounder. Don’t take the chance on him.

Avery Bradley is a good option, but is projected elsewhere and I really don’t like Indy taking a chance on him either. I think the Pacers should look for a guard in the second round, maybe. Jordan Crawford, anyone?

Xavier Henry

Henry is an excellent shooter and I wouldn’t mind seeing him a future shooting guard for the Pacers. Dahntay Jones and Brandon Rush don’t seem like the future yet, so I can take my bid on the great shooter from Kansas.

Tony Parker

Now we all know that the San Antonio Spurs’ point guard Tony Parker isn’t an option at a draft pick. But I strongly consider the Pacers trying to do something in a trade for him.

There was a rumor popped out of there that the Pacers would offer their tenth overall pick with Troy Murphy and Brandon Rush for the explosive 28-year-old. I wouldn’t mind since the tenth pick is very confusing.

But I can see it. The Pacers need a point guard, so I’d take it.

Hello, folks, and welcome to today’s NBA Rumor Mill!

Not many rumors today but they are still pretty good to qualify as a Rumor Mill article. And some of the rumors are pretty good, actually.

If Tom Izzo goes to the Cleveland Cavaliers as their head coach, there’s a little sneak peek of what his staff might look like.

Also, will the Utah Jazz have a new uniform and logo?

Will New Orleans Hornets’ point guard Darren Collison get traded?

All of this and more on today’s NBA Rumor Mill. So read on!

Enjoy.

Tom Izzo

If Tom Izzo joins the Cavaliers, Yahoo! Spors has a sneak peek of what his staff might look like:

“Izzo is expected to pursue a coaching staff that would include former New Jersey Nets coach Lawrence Frank and former Michigan State and Cavaliers guard Eric Snow. Cleveland has kept former coach Mike Brown’s staff under contract, and management has encouraged Izzo to consider those assistants, including Mike Malone and Chris Jent, for his own staff.”

Darren Collison

The Hornets may trade Darren Collison for draft picks possibly. Here’s more on that from ESPN’s Marc Stein:

“Rival executives will continue to try to convince the Hornets to make Chris Paul available in trades, pointing to the fact that Williams can simply slide the promising Darren Collison and his modest $1.4 million salary into that spot. When those teams get shot down, look for the Hornets — based on the hints we’ve received from more than one exec — to make Collison available as long as the interested party is willing to take back the cap-clogging contract of Emeka Okafor, James Posey or Peja Stojakovic with Paul’s backup.”

More Rumors Around the Mill

The Hawks signing Larry Drew as their as their coach may bring Joe Johnson to return to the Hawks.

Utah Jazz are changing their colors. Here’s more on that from the Salt-Lake Tribune:

“The Jazz will celebrate the return of the music note with an unveiling of their new logo and colors Tuesday morning. The event will take place at 9:45 a.m. at the EnergySolutions Arena ticket lobby, with the public invited to attend, the team announced. The music note served as the Jazz’s primary logo from the franchise’s expansion beginnings in New Orleans in 1974 through the relocation to Utah until 1996, when the Jazz adopted their current mountain logo. As part of the return to the music note, though, the Jazz are expected to adopted a blue, green and gold color scheme.”

According to IUhoosiers.com, Indiana Hoosiers’ former defensive end Jammie Kirlew, who is now with the Denver Bronocs, and field athlete Faith Sherrill were named Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholars.

Here’s a bit of an explanation of the program, from the source:

“Established in 1992 by the publication Diverse: Issues In Higher Education, the Sports Scholars Awards honor undergraduate students of color who exemplify the standards set by tennis great Arthur Ashe Jr.

“A scholar and athlete, Ashe sought to expand opportunities for young people. In addition to their athletic ability, students named Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholars must exhibit academic excellence as well as community activism. To be included, students have to compete in an intercollegiate sport; maintain a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.2; and be active on their campuses or in their communities. This year approximately 600 male and female student-athletes from across the country were nominated.”

Kirlew was ranked as one of top defensive ends in the Big Ten and had four statistics in which he was in the Top Ten for the Big Ten conference.

Kirlew was later drafted by the Denver Broncos of the National Football League in this year’s draft.

He was selected in the seventh round.

“We are used to congratulating Jammie for prestigious honors and the entire program does so once again,” Lynch said. “This is another example why he will be successful not only in the National Football League but in any field he chooses to pursue.”

During the 2009-10 Hoosiers’ football season, Kirlew was nominated for many awards.

He was on the watch list for the Ted Hendricks Defensive End of the Year Award, the Chuck Bednarik Award, and Rotary Lombardi Award.

He finished as a Top-Ten Finalist for the ARA Sportsmanship Award, though.

Kirlew was nominated as the team’s Most Valuable Player for the second straight season and was voted to the second and first All-Big-Ten squad.

Kirlew will be one of the best players known in Hoosiers’ football history, having 23 sacks which is tied for third in history and tied for second with 52.5 career tackles loss.

Sherrill played excellent and also won the Big Ten Field Athlete of the Year Award.

“Faith has really emerged as an elite athlete this year,” head coach Ron Helmer said. “She has managed to raise her performance to among the nation’s best, while maintaining a high level of achievement in her academics.”

Congrats to both!

When the Buffalo Bills brought in Terrell Owens last year, second-round draft pick James Hardy literally saw no playing time.

He had only one catch for nine yards in a 31-3 loss to the Atlanta Falcons.

He played in the 30-7 win over the Indianapolis Colts, but didn’t record a single statistic.

In his rookie year during the 2008-09 NFL season, Hardy recorded nine catches for 87 yards, along with two touchdowns.

Hardy currently has the career stats that a wide receiver could record in a single game: ten catches for 96 yards along with two touchdowns.

Although it doesn’t seem impressive, Hardy has experienced many injuries throughout those times, and went almost a year without holding a pigskin.

But now Hardy has a chance this year to prove himself.

For the 2010-11 NFL season, James Hardy is currently the number two option at receiver. Obviously, number one is Lee Evans.

So what does this mean for Hardy and how can he succeed?

This means a lot for Hardy. If he can prove himself this season, maybe Bills’ fans won’t be disappointed.

Hardy can succeed. He has great speed for his size at 6’6″ and 220 pounds. According to the Buffalo News, Hardy is the best option at number two and can make impact.

Most wide receivers tend to have a breakout year in their third season. That brings good news for Hardy, as 2010 marks his third season as a professional football player in the National Football League.

Hardy has amazing leaping ability and showed that in his rookie year of his two touchdowns, all of them in which he had to leap in.

Hardy will be facing cornerbacks this years that are all five-to-six inches shorter than him, which gives him an advantage.

He played amazing for the Hoosiers at Indiana University.

Hardy is most likely going to battle Steve Johnson, Chad Jackson, and Marcus Easley for the number two spot. I have a feeling Hardy can easily get past them.

Hardy is a talent wideout and can be a favorite receiver for the Bills. Trent Edwards could really use a guy like him.

I think Hardy is going to do well.

I guess time will tell.

We’ll see what happens.

The Indianapolis Colts had a great run during the 2009-10 NFL season.

They had a 14-0 run and took a rest during the last two games of the season, which caused controversy.

Well, controversy no more!

Definitely.

The Colts made it to the Super Bowl, knocking off the Baltimore Ravens in the Divisional Round and then the New York Jets in the AFC Championship.

They sadly had a bad ending with a loss to the New Orleans, 31-17.

Now the Colts enter a new season with big changes.

So without a further ado, here are my expectations for the Indianapolis Colts as the 2010-11 NFL season comes up.

Enjoy!

Can The Running Game Finally Be In Effect?

When Donald Brown was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts as the 31st pick of the 2009 NFL Draft, it did cause a bit of controversy, since Indy had a running back in Joseph Addai.

But they brought him in to compliment number 29.

And it didn’t go so well. Addai improved with his rushing game. Far better than the 2008-09 season.

The Colts did great in the Super Bowl and it brought me to something that the Colts can run the ball coming into the new NFL season.

I guess we’ll see.

But the Colts need to running game to get into effect. They can’t keep passing the ball most of the time. Establish the rushing game and make it strong again!

Is Joseph Addai the Difference?

Joseph Addai proved something these last two years when he couldn’t run the ball well:

He’s an all-around back and showed what else he could do.

He has made some amazing moves and has one of the best hands for a running back in the league. Hell, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Colts would put him at receiver at some points in a game next season.

Addai also blocks well, too.

I like what he is doing. If he can establish the rushing game more, he is on to a bright future.

So far, so good.

Can the O-Line Succeed?

I did not like how the Colts’ offensive line was last year.

I mean, I was fine with how they did on protecting Peyton Manning and working pretty well on the passing offense plays.

But the running plays is where I had a problem.

When Jake Scott left, it really messed things up. They instead re-signed Ryan Lilja, who was later released this off-season.

And Tony Ugoh has been struggling lately and is moving to left guard. That’s a good spot.

Right now, I just want the Colts’ offensive line to succeed in the rushing game. Help gain some yards for Joseph Addai and Donald Brown.

It would be much appreciated.

Is Peyton Still the Man?

Heck yeah he is.

Enough said.

Can Jerry Hughes Make Impact?

I really didn’t see a problem with the Indianapolis Colts drafting TCU defensive end/linebacker Jerry Hughes.

Hughes is going to be a name to remember. Remember it, Colts’ fans.

Book it.

There’s a bunch of contract issues going on with Robert Mathis and the defensive end attack with Mathis and Freeney won’t last forever.

So it’s best to get Hughes.

Hughes is a fast and physical defensive player and will be an important player for years to come. But can he make impact this year?

I think so.

The Colts should use him a lot around the defense. He will be in a little rotation.

I think he can make impact quickly.

What Is To Do With the Receivers?

The Indianapolis Colts will have a sticky situation with their receivers coming into the new NFL season.

Anthony Gonzalez is returning and what is to do with him? How about Pierre Garcon and Austin Collie?

I have a feeling the Colts might try to deal Gonzalez or move him down in the depth chart as a slot receiver or the number four option.

I think Garcon will be the number two receiver alongside with Reggie Wayne at number one.

Austin Collie and Gonzalez, maybe Sam Giguere, will battle for the slot position.

The Colts can’t give up on Gonzalez just like that and Austin Collie came up big last season. Giguere is expected to be the next Wes Welker, so he could be used well.

I guess we’ll see how things go once training camp and the pre-season comes.

Can Bob Sanders Re-Establish Himself as the Leader?

I guess I wrote it on here a while ago. You can just go back to the previous archives I guess to read more on that.

The season looks to be bright for the Indianapolis Colts in the 2010-11 NFL season. It’s going to be fun.
